FINALLY! I think there may be hope for mainstream media yet. It took a brand new reporter (a newly hired one) working for the San Francisco Chronicle to muster the intestinal fortitude required to speak truth to slumlord power (Randy Shaw).
Kale Williams, Chronicle staff writer

Kudos to you Mr. Kale Williams, staff writer par excellence. Despite biased oppinions offered by those accused (Beyond Chron), you are the one who has been slandered sir. You are only guillty of reporting the factual truth.
Little did I know that my humble post to SeeClickFix would result in drawing the attention of the mainstream media, I honestly didn’t think it would ever be seen. The site itself is actually a mobile app that allows San Franciscans to report code violations of all kinds to the City Attorney’s Office (SeeClickFix on Wikipedia). I decided to post my complaint there really as just an afterthought, I had no clue that the site was being monitored by clever reporters like Kale of the S.F. Chronicle. In my defense, I’m an old guy and have yet to fully appreciate the power of social media but, I’m learning. What I think I did that was different from most who post complaints there was to cut and paste a very detailed letter which fully explained the situation, complete with complaint numbers included.
You have my thanks and admiration Kale Williams, your efforts have done much to restore my faith in the mainstream media. Very brave of you. If we are to have any hope of regaining a democracy that is of the people, by the people and for the people, it will be due in no small part to courageous journalists such as yourself. Journalists who are not afraid of angering the elites by reporting the truth of their misdeeds.
Update 01-07-14: Today, a reporter and photographer from a major media organization came to the hotel and spoke with me. For the sake of fairness, I will withold comment until they publish. **************************************************************
I spoke once again at the San Francisco Human Services Agency on December 19th, 2013, a full year after having first informed them that THC was breaking it’s contract. Instead of heeding my warnings about the building being dilapidated, they decided to give the Tenderloin Housing Clinic an additional $110,000. The building had an Order Of Abatement then, and still does a year later. When I returned to tell them tax dollars had been wasted, they said the Department Of Building Inspection told them the property (The All Star Hotel) was fine (even though it had an active Order Of Abatement issued against it) and that I was welcome to come back in January. I then informed them that I had filed a SF Police complaint for grant fraud naming them as the perpetrators. I will post a video of me speaking at this regular meeting very soon and update this post. What is really disturbing is that at this meeting, the SFHSA said that in the coming year they will be receiving federal grant monies. When that happens, do you think they will be any more diligent with those federal tax dollars? I think we will see conditions deteriorate like they have in public housing, with massive amounts of money wasted and tenants living in squalor. Will the criminality never end?
This is a complaint that I have submitted to Dennis Herrera, San Francisco City Attorney Code Enforcement because the landlord has ignored an Order Of Abatement for over a year and the San Francisco Human Services Agency continues to give the Tenderloin Housing Clinic even more tax dollars even though they are in breach of their contract. $260,000 has been paid despite the All Star Hotel being a public nuisance, which I told them about before they handed over tax dollars. I am sure this property is not the only one that is substandard, I am just the only one (besides Bluoz – Mr. Jeff Webb) reporting on them. http://seeclickfix.com/map_widgets/2423# http://seeclickfix.com/issues/877543-order-of-abatement-non-compliance
This is an abridged copy of the text of a letter that I submitted to the San Francisco Human Services Agency a week before their regular meeting held on December 19th, 2014, at which I spoke. I accuse both them and the Tenderloin Housing Clinic of grant fraud for ignoring numerous outstanding building code violations and an Order Of Abatement that was issued over a year ago. They gave THC $260,000 even though THC was in breach of contract.
