I mean, come on. Have you really looked at the painting above?
allstaractivist note: My deepest and heartfelt sympathies go out to the mass shooting victims of Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Charlston, SC., it was not my intention to associate the church’s terrible tragedy with the below post when I authored it. Although seemingly related, this post was exclusively conceived of as an anecdotal accounting of my own personal perils while in the service of Christ. My apologies to anyone so offended. Again, I am so sorry for the losses of all those injured and left behind on June 17th, 2015. May God love and heal them gently through this shameful, Satanic attack on my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Matthew 24:9 King James Version (KJV)
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
John 12:25 King James Version (KJV)
25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
That’s right, Christianity done properly is going to be dangerous and quite often, lethal. Isn’t that what Jesus told us?
The Apostle Paul was beheaded, John the Baptist was beheaded, Peter was crucified upside down (by choice).
Andrew was crucified on an X shaped cross, Mathew was impaled and beheaded, Bartholomew was flayed by whip (torn to shreds).
Thomas was most likely stabbed, Philip was impaled in his ankles and hung upside down (meat hook style).
James was beheaded by Herod, Jude was crucified by the Magi, Matthias (Judas’s replacement) was stoned and beheaded.
Of course, we all know what happened to The Lord Jesus.
Still think you have what it takes to follow Christ?
Just for the heck of it, I’ll even throw Socrates in there even though he wasn’t a Christian, just smart and extremely moral. He was made to drink poison tea made from the Hemlock plant.
All were unjustly murdered, suffering horrific deaths for doing good.
If you are truly living a Christian life, not perfect but striving, you are undoubtedly going to piss someone off. You are going to rub many people the wrong way. Many will want you dead. Sorry to burst your bubble but, if that isn’t you, then you are most likely a “luke warm” Christian. A Christian of convenience and for appearances.
In the times that we are headed into, the Bible says that we will come under great persecution. Many already have. The question that you have to ask yourself is, when that moment comes are you going to stand up or remain seated. We are supposed to be the salt of the earth, we don’t blend in and we don’t go along with the World’s program. We oppose and rebuke it. That doesn’t exactly win you friends.
As dark as this world is becoming, we are the ones charged with providing the light and baby, it’s going to be dangerous. You will be ridiculed, you will be attacked, some will even lose their lives. But, isn’t it better to lose your life in the service of Jesus (for his name’s sake) than to live a life of shame? I for one, want to be able to hold my head up when I see God, I don’t want to be ashamed. I pray almost every day that he gives me the strength to please him.
For we are not only servants, we are soldiers;
Ephesians 6:10-18 King James Version (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
People called me stupid when I filed murder charges against our utility out here called PG&E. People thought me stupid for not seeking money by filing a lawsuit against my landlord, even though I had an excellent case this time. These are the types of things however, that a proper Christian does. Stand up to injustice, stand up for those who can’t defend themselves, get involved in causes not your own. We are supposed to be the standard that others look up to and thereby reflect God. If we don’t do it then what did Christ save us for? Trees that bare no fruit.
Going to Church and listening to a sermon, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and occasionally venturing out into the community is all well and good perhaps (Charleston, SC notwithstanding), but where is the risk? Where is the sacrifice? Do you mean to tell me that doing those things is really going to confront and convict the devils running wild throughout our society today? Apparently not.
Do you know that I was the only person in California, the only private individual including the families, that filed murder charges against PG&E with the San Bruno police? There is something extremely wrong with that. Where were my fellow Christians during that time? Where was their outrage at the murder of a mother and child? What’s wrong with you people??
Alas, I guess that’s why we’re in the shape we are today, why we have allowed our country to be taken from us. Self preservation and political correctness has won out. We have not enough heroes nor heroines, except for that poor lady who was murdered trying to do something good for us. We let her down (Jacqueline and Janessa Greig).
Judgement. Judgement is not far off. Judgement for the entire nation. We haven’t stood up for the “good” people and have allowed the wicked to run amok, wreaking havoc and shedding innocent blood. God isn’t going to tolerate that forever. If we won’t salt the earth then why should he bless us?
He will instead allow us the consequences of our apathy, the wicked will become the instruments of our correction.
